Diary: Friday

What follows are 2 typical Fridays: a bad Friday and a good Friday.

Friday (bad)

Got out of bed at 10:00 and got dressed. Had breakfast. Took pills and brushed my teeth. Went downstairs to fetch the newspaper. Turned on computer. Read email from Javier and replied. Read the paper. Had 2 frozen waffles for lunch. Read the rest of the paper. Called in depressed (left message in Raj's voice mail, Arvin's brother/partner, that I'm depressed and not coming in). Went to bed and had a nap. Got up at 7:00. Had frozen lasagna dinner and cookies. Lied on the couch. Emailed Carl in China about CIS, asking him to make a certain change if possible. Watched The National on CBC Newsworld at 9:00. Had some cookies. Brushed my teeth. Turned off the computer. Went to bed. My friend Constance came by in the middle of the night and I didn't let her in or speak to her. Heard/saw her yelling at the taxi driver at the front of the building.

Friday (good)

Couldn't sleep. Got out of bed around 1:00 a.m. and got into my pyjamas. Made coffee. Wrote an email to my sister. Created a new blog: Harold's World, located at http://sz-harold.blogspot.com/. Copied the email to my sister and pasted it into the first post in this blog. Plan to write a blog post twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. Wrote email to Ralph and Riel informing them about my new blog. Printed out first post in blog. Lied on couch. Took a shower. Got dressed. Ate breakfast. Took pills. Had 2nd coffee. Washed dishes. Brushed teeth. Fetched the newspaper. Attached detachable hood to black coat (it's raining). Applied vehicle registration stickers to registration and license plate. Drove to work.

Talked to Nicholas. Turned on computer. Fetched diet caffeine-free Coke from fridge. Topped up no. of pops in fridge (transferring pops from box/case to fridge). Checked email. Verified Carl’s bug fix to CIS: working. Worked on CIS for 80 minutes. Found a bug with an easy workaround (not very serious). Had an instant coffee. Created my blog profile. Announced my new blog to 9 people: 4 family members, my boss, my former boss, 2 former co-workers, and my shrink. Contacted Schizophrenia Society of Ontario, telling them about my blog.

Prak mentioned my bcsint.com email address (which I don’t use) is inoperative this weekend. Created first real BCS Software Information record in CIS (SMSv5), and wrote email to Carl about bug I found today. Prak modified my BCS uploading configuration, as we are in the process of changing our service provider. Had 4th cup of coffee today (instant coffee). My daily limit is 4 cups of coffee; from now on it’s decaf only today. So far I worked 110 minutes (I typically work no more than 3 hours or 180 minutes per day). Posted all 7 diary entries on my blog. Had an instant decaf coffee. Decided to meet with Steve (at Sound Times) to discuss publicizing my blog at the Writer's Collective the following Monday. Wrote about that in an email to my sister, also asking her to comment on one of my blog posts. Entered timesheet info: 2 hours today. Read news at cbc.ca. Left office about 7:15 (11 hours after arriving at office) and drove home (it's still raining).

Listened to "Take the money and run" by the Steve Miller Band, and Foreigner: "Juke Box Hero" on the car radio. Bought Miss Vickie's potato chips at the 24-hour convenience store, and had them for dinner. Talked to Constance, who called me on the phone. Lied on couch. Watched The National on CBC Newsworld at 9:00. Fell asleep on couch, then woke up. So far no email replies. Brushed teeth. Went to bed.
